Final Draft Big Break Semifinalist!

A NATIVE LAND is now a Semifinalist in the Final Draft Big Break competition. Winners of the Big Break competition will be celebrated at the Final Draft Awards virtual ceremony on March 16, 2022.

Guillermo del Toro, Jane Campion and Jeymes Samuel are among the honorees for this year’s Final Draft Awards recognizing achievements in screenwriting. Also being recognized at the 17th annual awards ceremony will be Nicole Holofcener, Danny Strong, Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. Check out The Wrap’s article about the Final Draft Awards HERE.

Caitlin McCarthy was inspired to write A NATIVE LAND because she is of Métis descent through her Huron/Abenaki/French Canadian ancestry. (Fun fact: Her 8th great grandparents had the first recorded marriage between a Native person and a French person in Canada.) As an American, Caitlin is a member of the Métis Federation of Canada; and she holds a Certificate of Aboriginal Status card through the Ontario Métis Family Records Center (OMFRC).
